Location
The Negev is a desert region that covers the southern half of Israel. The least populated area in Israel, it is home to the nomadic desert people known as the Bedouin and unique African wildlife. The Negev offers some spectacular scenery with captivating sites and places.
Kfar sagol is located in the north of the Negev in a moshav that is open and green with over 500 trees and pools.
About the project
Sagol Village is a unique eco village built from mud and local materials. Located in the north part of Israel , it is nestled in a moshav one hour from tel aviv. Sagol-Eco Village was created by a young couple with a dream.
Kfar Sagol hosts the SAGOL festival twice a year. This festival is aimed at the spiritually minded, featuring professionals who conduct a wide range of workshops and meditation sessions, all oriented toward self-growth and self-improvement. People from all over the country and the world gather to participate in more than 50 workshops inluding movement and body awareness workshops, yoga, tantra, shamanism, meditation and art workshops and many more. Every year the festival also welcomes spiritual teachers from Israel and abroad.
There is also a children's tent with varied activities for kids of all ages. The Sagol festival will most probably take place from 1 - 2 October 2010.
Volunteer work and contribution
Volunteers will mainly assist with the preparation of the place for and after the festival:
- construction - building shaded spaces / tents and fences
- maintenance
- dismantling
Working hours are 6 hours per day and there will be 1 day off per week to discover the area or enjoy the facilities of the village. Volunteers will be able to attend the festival and all the workshops for free.
Accommodation
Volunteers will stay in a wig wam which is a round dome per person or per couple, the kitchen is in a common space with a porch for all volunteers.
Travel highlights
After work hours, volunteers can enjoy this unique region, relax by our new eco pool, and just chill out under the stars. Volunteers will recieve 1 day off a week to explore other regions of Israel such as Eilat and Jerusalem.

- Conversational English or Hebrew
- Good physical fitness
- Strong work ethic
- Motivation to do physical and demanding work
- Able to work in desert climate
- Highly independent
- Full travel &medical insurance
