This is the ultimate teen volunteer adventure experience! Spend an amazing two weeks exploring, volunteering, camping and having adventures in Costa Rica with other teens. This program is perfect for first-time travelers!

Your Schedule at a Glance (Two-week commitment):
Your two-week trip will consist of a community work week and an adventure week. The following is a sample itinerary and the order may vary.
Arrival Day, Saturday: Arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). You will be picked up at the airport and transferred to a hostel in San Jose, where you will meet other volunteers and spend the night.
Day 1, Sunday: Transfer to Quepos town and participate in an orientation to introduce you to the program. Spend the rest of the day getting to know other volunteers and settling into your new home in Costa Rica.
Days 2-4, Monday-Thursday: You will receive basic training in construction and using tools before going to start your community work. Tasks may include basic maintenance, building and renovation work, painting, mural making and other art work.
Day 5, Friday: Today you will get to learn more about Costa Rican culture as well as the environment. Travel to Isla Damas and go on a mangrove tour, before being invited for lunch in a community leader’s home.
Day 6, Saturday: Meet with the other group and travel together to Manuel Antonio National Park, before taking a surf lesson and then heading out to dinner.
Day 7, Sunday: Travel to Turrialba, a valley in the middle of the mountains, where you will enjoy your adventure activities. After a long trip over, you will have some time to rest before your big week ahead.
Days 8-11, Monday-Thursday: Adventure week begins! Your days will be filled with rafting, trekking, canyoning and two nights camping in the mountains.
Day 12, Friday: Transfer back to San Jose for one last day in Costa Rica.
Day 13, Saturday: Departure day for volunteers.
For parents: Because this project is specifically designed for teenage volunteers, there is a high level of supervision by well-trained staff and conservation experts. GoEco can recommended specific airlines and flights to group participants together. Recommended airlines will offer a chaperone service- airline-provided flight chaperones who will accompany volunteers on the flight from their city of departure to their program. This chaperone service must be arranged with the airline itself, and the cost varies by airline.

Set on the Pacific shores of Costa Rica and only a few hours’ drive from San Jose, the area of Manuel Antonio is stunning. The rainforest areas and palm plantations are home to an array of wildlife, including monkeys and toucans which can be seen just about every day. The local town has a relaxed way of life, which makes this area ideal for enjoying Costa Rican culture, sandy beaches and biodiversity.
During the first few days, volunteers will participate in an orientation that includes a health and safety briefing, an introduction to the history of the area and specific training for construction work. Mission trip volunteers will spend the next several days at local schools assisting with construction and renovation projects. The work will involve basic maintenance and renovation work and painting the spaces with colorful murals. Light construction activities may include refurbishing classrooms, moving construction material, building a playground with reusable materials, helping to put in vegetable gardens or anything needed by the community. classes. These types of improvements go a long way towards brightening up the environment and making the rooms more enjoyable. Extra activities in the past years have included rafting, surfing, visiting the national park and other cultural activities like Salsa dancing and local cooking
The second week of the project is filled with adventure activities designed to introduce volunteers to all that Costa Rica offers in a fun and exciting way.
