This project is located in the vibrant, beachside city of Miami. The city is located in the southeast section of Florida. is filled with shining beaches, tropical, lush gardens and cuisine from all parts of the world.
Despite being a city known for its, food, partying, beaches, extravagance, and wealthy retirees, more than 1,000 people are living on the streets. The reason for this is, of course, always due to multiple factors but some of the overarching reasons are due to a lack of affordable housing and devastation caused by natural disasters. Community organizations are working to provide support to the city’s most vulnerable population, as well as to low-income families struggling to make ends meet through food banks, shelters, community centers, education, and advocation, among other initiatives. Volunteers will help support these organizations and the myriad of ways they support those communities in need.

Volunteer placements vary, but may include working in a soup kitchen, beautifying homeless shelters, sorting donations, assisting with teaching at community centers and/or supporting local, urban farms. No matter the placement, volunteers can be sure to be having a positive impact on the community. Volunteers are notified of their specific placement on the Thursday prior to their arrival.

We have a network of hundreds of community partners across the country who work on a variety of projects to sustain and support their communities. Volunteers are matched with projects upon a variety of factors, including the needs of the community partners, the volunteer’s interests, and the time of year. While serving, our volunteers will gain experience and understanding of the city and its communities, while also gaining applicable skills for the future.
