If you’re a vet student or even just an animal lover, then the Pre-Vet Sloth and Wildlife Rescue Center is just the place for you. I was there for two weeks working on the Vet Team, and it was an incredible experience.
First off, the local team were very warm and welcoming. Whenever I had any questions or issues, they were always just a text message away. While I was there, I worked with an array of different animals, ranging from birds to raccoons to sloths and much more.
Working under the direct supervision of the veterinarians taught me so many new skills, including animal nutrition and enrichment. The vets are always there to help, and they’re very eager to teach. Because I was on the Vet Team, I was often one of the first to know about any new animals arriving at the center or any new releases back into the wild. I was also able to participate in several procedures and surgeries.
I believe this is a one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t find at many other facilities.
