Volunteering in Spain – Six Magical Weeks in Barcelona

Posted by: Arian

The title says it all! My time at the Eco-friendly Hospitality Internship in Barcelona was magical and I loved every part of it. For years I have been desperate to visit Barcelona due to its artistic culture, architecture and nightlife and knew that I didn’t want my first time spent there to be a fly-in visit. So 6 weeks volunteering in the a hostel was a perfect opportunity for me.

The people I met there enhanced my trip enormously, there were 4 volunteers working at the time and we all got on so well, sharing every activity and outing together. From cycling around Barcelona, lazy beach days, pub crawls, boat parties, water parks, day festivals to enjoying the panoramic views of Barcelona from the bunkers. Every day brought something new and exciting and I couldn’t have wished for better people to share them with.

I never found myself bored in Barcelona, I took particular advantage of the Museums and Galleries there, and especially on Sundays when they would offer free entry! This meant I got to visit the infamous Picasso Museum for absolutely free, despite waiting in line for a short while. I also got the opportunity to travel to Figueres and spend the day at the Dali Museum – only my favourite artist ever!

I can only describe this trip as one of the happiest times of my life; being able to integrate everyday with people from all over the world and having the whole of Barcelona on your doorstop was incredible. It has completely changed my perspective on the world and I can’t wait but to explore more of it!

Thank you GoEco for this outstanding opportunity!
