Founded in 1872, Virginia Tech is research university with its main campus in Virginia. Virginia Tech offers 280 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to some 34,400 students and manages a research portfolio of $522 million, the largest of any university in Virginia. Virginia Tech is the state’s second-largest public university by enrollment.

Service learning is a blend of studying and volunteering at the same time where one compliments the others, designed to help the student contribute to the community and involves a classroom learning component to learn more about an area of academic study.
