In addition to plastic dirtying our oceans, it is killing already endangered marine species such as sea turtles, when they mistake plastic for jellyfish and eat it. More than 8 million pieces of plastic make their way into the ocean every day, killing more than 100,000 marine mammals and more than one million birds every year.
