This trip works perfectly on its own or as an add-on to GoEco’s volunteer programs in Sri Lanka.

Your Schedule at a Glance:

Arrival Day, Friday: Airport pickup according to scheduled flight and shared transfer to the volunteer villa. Settle in, rest, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 1, Saturday: Adventurers will be picked up from Galle early to begin the journey south, stopping for lunch before a half-day wildlife safari in Yala National Park to spot elephants, leopards, and other roaming wildlife.
Day 2, Sunday: Travel into the highlands toward Ella with visits to Ravana Waterfall and the Nine Arches Bridge. Check in and hike Little Adam’s Peak for sweeping sunset views.
Day 3, Monday: Wake to sunrise and take the scenic train ride from Ella to Nanu Oya. After lunch, continue to Kandy, with an optional white-water rafting stop in Kitulgala.
Day 4, Tuesday: Visit a tea factory, try on sarees and sarongs at a traditional clothing shop, and explore Kandy on a guided city tour before visiting the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic.
Day 5, Wednesday: Head to Dambulla to explore local arts and craft centres and the vegetable market before a peaceful village walk and traditional lunch in Hiriwadunna.
Day 6, Thursday: Start early with a climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, then continue to Negombo for a relaxed final evening by the beach.
Day 7 and Departure Day, Friday: After breakfast, check out and transfer to Colombo Airport for departure or to Galle to start a volunteer program.

Please note: This schedule may alter and/or be amended, depending on weather, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances. If the hotels shown are not available at the time for any reasons, they will be replaced with alternative accommodations of similar quality.

Sri Lanka is a small, teardrop shaped island in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of India, with a population of about 18.5 million people. This road trip takes participants from the bustling city of Kandy down to the Coral Coast, to the beach areas and city of Galle. Kandy is one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka and lies amidst the rolling hills of the Kandy Plateau. It is home to the famous Temple of the Tooth, a sacred Buddhist temple. Galle is a beautiful area in southern Sri Lanka that is surrounded by lush greenery and is in close proximity to world-class beaches! Galle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, complete with Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient religious buildings, museums and more. Galle is also quite trendy, and is home to cafes, fashionable shops and boutique hotels.

This tour does not include volunteer work. It serves as a recommended introduction week for GoEco participants joining volunteer programs in Sri Lanka. It helps travellers get familiar with the country, meet other participants, and enjoy cultural and natural highlights before or after their placement.
