Thailand – Hua Hin Teaching and Childcare

This program is now open to international volunteers!


Experience Thai beach culture and give back to the community of Hua Hin! Work with children each day in two different placements.

Your Schedule at a Glance (Minimum one-week commitment):

Arrival Day, Sunday: Arrive at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) Airports. Volunteers will be picked up by members of the local team and transferred by a public bus and private shuttle to the accommodation in Hua Hin. Volunteers will settle in and get to know one another.

Day 1, Monday: They day will begin with a welcome orientation, followed by a Thai culture and language lesson. Following this lesson, volunteers will have a tour of the area and explore Plearnwan Market. After lunch, volunteers will have free time at one of the nearby beaches.

Days 2-5, Tuesday-Friday: Following breakfast, volunteers will work in a local child care center or kindergarten to assist teachers with child care tasks such as singing, playing games and more. After a lunch break, volunteers will teach English to older students, aged 6-18. Lessons will end at around 3:00 or 4:00 PM. On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, volunteers will go to the night market and can enjoy local street foods. On Friday evenings, volunteers will visit the Cica Market, filled with food, art exhibitions, handmade gifts and live music.

Days 6-7, Saturday-Sunday: For volunteers staying only one week, departure is on Saturday morning. Volunteers who are extending will have the weekend free for rest and exploration. See “Travel Highlights” below for travel recommendations!

Remaining Weeks: The remaining weeks will follow the schedule of volunteering Monday-Friday and having weekends free. Departures are on a Saturday.

Hua Hin is one of Thailand’s most popular beach destinations for locals and tourists alike. It is located 280 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Kha. Hua Hin is the perfect destination for beach lovers.


Volunteers will work each morning in a childcare center or kindergarten. The afternoon volunteer work will take place in primary or secondary schools.

Some of your tasks may include:

  • Preparing songs
  • Playing educational games with the children
  • Putting the children down for naps
  • Teaching English lessons


Holidays: From mid-March until mid-May and October, primary and secondary schools will be closed. In the afternoon session, volunteers can join special classes and English camps that are regularly requested by the local community

Internet icon Internet: WiFi is available in public areas.

Laundry icon Laundry: On-site laundry machines can be used for an additional fee.

Accommodations icon Accommodations: Participants will stay in shared, single-gender rooms with up to four people per room. Each room has a hot shower, fan and en suite bathroom. Volunteers can upgrade to private rooms or shared rooms with air conditioning for an additional fee.

Food icon Food: Three meals a day are provided during the week and two meals a day are provided on the weekends. The meals will be Thai style, consisting of rice and noodle dishes. Most of the meals will be vegetarian, with meat offered on occasion.


Please take note of this project’s minimum requirements:

  • Intermediate level of English
  • Police clearance
  • Motivation to work with children

Hua Hin is popular among tourists, and offers volunteers the opportunity to sunbathe, swim or snorkel on the golden beaches. Popular attractions include the following:

  • Vana Nava Water Park

  • Kaeng Krachan National Park
  • Phraya Nakhon Cave

  • Culture Week (highly recommended): This seven-day jam-packed week is a great opportunity to learn about Thailand and meet other international volunteers. This week will ease you into your volunteering experience by providing you with a better understanding of the history, culture and customs.   • Jungle Trek: Get ready for adventure as you trek through the tropical forests west of Sing Buri. You’ll have the opportunity to sleep under the stars, trek to spectacular waterfalls and caves hidden in the jungle and more!
  • Thai Buddhism Immersion in Wang Nam Khiao: During this week-long program you will be introduced to Buddhism. You will have the chance to discuss Buddhism with a local monk and enjoy a two-day stay at the Wat Suptawee Temple to learn walking and sitting meditation forms as well as experience the daily life of monks.
