Location
Marlborough - a small township located 102 kilometers north of the city of Rockhampton in central Queensland, Australia.
About the project
Volunteers are needed to assist with the care and rehabilitation of the endangered Bridled Nailtail Wallaby, also known as the Flashjack, which is one of the 45 existing species of Kangaroo in Australia.
The project is a 170 hectare private reserve that aims to ensure the survival of the few remaining known colonies of wild Bridled Nailtail wallabies. Quality care is provided for the wallabies in need so that they may be released on to safe properties that feature the animal's habitat requirements. The reserve is also home to other Australian species such as Koalas, wombats, various birds and reptiles.
As a volunteer in this project you will be given the opportunity to work with endangered species, contribute to the species recovery, experience Australian wildlife up close and gain an insight into endangered species conservation and management programs. You will live and work with professional staff and other motivated volunteers from around the world.
