This project is located in the vibrant, beachside city of Miami, in southeastern Florida. Miami is filled with shining beaches, tropical, lush gardens and cuisine from around the world.
Climate change is a global threat and, in the United States, Florida is already starting to feel its effects. Coral reefs, everglades, beaches, and coastal cities are endangered by rising sea levels, elevated temperatures, and progressively more intense tropical storms and hurricanes. Miami is fighting back through their community organizations. They are exploring different methods of environmental sustainability to mitigate these harmful effects and protect their wildlife, lands, and city. It’s important to support these organizations in their objective and help them ensure that Miami, its wildlife, and beautiful natural habitats are preserved for generations to come.
Volunteer placements vary, but may include working in a community garden or urban farm, removing invasive species, advocating for green initiatives and/or participating in beach cleanups. No matter the placement, environmental volunteers will be protecting the beautiful, natural environment of Miami. Volunteers are notified of their specific placement on the Thursday prior to their arrival.
Holidays: Please note that this program is closed on the following days:
